What is like to be 87, live alone, and have to sort out your life’s possessions, sell your house, and move into an apartment? Donna had to downsize from her custom built home in a suburb of Kansas City.
As I worked on this project, I found myself reflecting on our accumulation of items that have meaning for us. Each object embodies a memory with a story of a person or a moment in time. I think of the word bittersweet, but for Donna I saw more bitter and less sweet.
I’m interested in exploring notions of home, aging, memory, and nostalgia through photography.
