Since 1955, the Prix Nadar is organized and awarded by the association Gens d'images. It rewards a book dedicated to photography published during the past year by a French publisher. About a hundred books are presented to the jury, which evaluates the relevance of the subject, the accuracy of the editorial choices, the originality and coherence of the layout, the care taken in the production. Ten books are selected for their quality, including the winner who receives an endowment of €10,000 thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture. Meetings are organized in Paris and in the provinces to present the winning book, including a workshop at the ADAGP on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. One copy of each book received is kept at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, in the Department of Prints and Photography, historical partner of the Nadar Prize. The second copy will be added to the Gens d'images collection in the library of the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône.
